A UNIQUE CAMP FOR STUDENTS IN
GUJARAT
Hiren Kotak
We in our own way, strives to acquaint the young generation with India , its diversities and its unity. We aims to make every child accept the “otherness”. This, we asserts, is the prime need of every young person. Acceptance of the other is the most potent tool to fight violence, fundamentalism and terrorism. WE calls these camps “Rastra Katha Shivirs”. The focus is on knowing your nation, its culture, heritage, civilization, wisdom and, simultaneously, to learn the latest developments in science and technology.
Age Of Reason
Activities at the camp begin at 5 a.m. Yoga and Physical exercises are followed by breakfast and then an assembly for about two hours. After lunch comes an interactive session lasting two hours. A short afternoon break is followed by sports. A professor from TIFR conducts computer training classes for ten days. The idea is to enrich skills while catering to the interests of the young persons in arreas of their own interest.
They come from different States, speak different languages and have diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. Within hours of settling down in their tents, they start interacting with each other. Camaraderie develops fast and barriers come down. It is amazing to see over 12,000 students clapping vigorously to a spirited Bhangra performance by non-Punjabi dancers.
